The Times Before
A wishing well
A hollow tree
A flowing stream
A bumble bee
Thin blades of grass
Covered in dew
A narrow path
Just me and you
Walking slowly
Through the park
Cool summer days
From dusk till dark
We’d walk, we’d run
We’d skip, we’d play
All of the time
Our August days
Simple times
Back then we had
No drama then
No good or bad
Just one thing
Going through our mind
Would we be back
For dinner time?
We’d spend the day
Riding along
The path
No sense of right or wrong
Oh, how I wish
This was still the case
Instead
I’m stuck in this place
We’d walk and play
This was our life
But now it’s filled
With pain and strife
I want to go back
To the time
When you were still
All fully mine
I wish
I could go back to the day
The day
Before you went away.
