The 100-Meter Dash
Wind. That's all I feel.
Now I'm running on air.
My vision is blurred from the sweat,
And I'm not sure if my legs are there.
Mac usually runs faster than me,
But today I'm taking a chance.
She started faster; she's pretty good,
But now I've started to advance.
Fifty meters; I'm almost done!
I'm ahead, faster, faster!
I kick it in, I know I'll win,
And the student becomes the master.
Our feet hit the finish line,
But mine impacts before her's.
My friends scream and shout and jump about,
I'm grinning broadly, I'm sure.
Coach grins and shows my time:
9.56 (I'm just happy I'm alive)
I scream and shout, then I jump about,
I've dropped my time by five.~
