The Volunteer
Beaten, Bruised, Half Dead
The Blood Gushing
From His Tattered Body
Skin covered with
Thick Slashed Scratches
He no longer looks like a Man
The Thick Wounds of Exposed Flesh
Crusted over with Dust and Sand
Walking, Stumbling, then Falling
Once again, He’s Slowly Dying
Carrying a Heavy Load
The Sins of the World, all upon Him
The Fresh Stripes from the Whip
Fried in the Hot Sun
His body Ached from Pain
As the Thorns pierced His Scalp
Why did He Volunteer for this?
Because He Loves You
“ Father Forgive Them”
He Cried and Died.
