Faces
Our faces are mysteries unsolved,
Stories untold,
Masks in disguise.
Every expression holds emotions;
Sorrow, delight, anger.
But that is only like the
First clue in a mystery,
The title to a book,
The color of a mask.
These expressions are small details to
Depict how you are truly feeling but
No one really knows the meaning behind your emotion,
Or the reason why.
Do people ever take the time to find out the reason why?
I don’t know.
Just because her face is perfect underneath
The façade of makeup,
Does not mean her life is perfect.
Just because he smiles does not mean he is happy.
Does anyone notice when the smile disappears for a second
And worry conquers his smile?
Are people misread, overlooked or misunderstood
Because of what they appear to be?
Can we ever go beyond
What our faces display?
Our faces are mysteries unsolved,
Stories untold,
Masks in disguise.
Completely undiscovered.
