Feathered Wings
The feathers are soft on his back
They lie in folded sheaves as he rests.
But when he stands
Wanting to fly far away,
Arching high over his head,
They help him float off
Into the distance,
He is a pinprick in the sky.
He swoops down low
Skimming the golden sands,
The glistening blue waters
Barely making a mark
But they know he was there
For he radiates his love of life
For all to share
