My Childhood Has Left Me...
Every time I feel the warm hand of a child's in mine,
I am reminded of how much
I miss
my childhood.
Every time I hear a child cry,
I remember every single
scraped knee, crashed bike,
and busted lip.
Whenever I hear a child laughing,
I think back
to when
my smiles weren't faked.
And when I hold my siblings close,
I am reminded of just
how it felt to be folded
into a loving adults arms.
Playing with friends till
dark on school nights,
making stupid
jokes in class.
I miss everything
bout my childhood,
and I wish I could have
made it last.
