How Tea Tastes in November
Sweet tea when I’m lonely
Having nothing to do
Having nowhere to be
Yet sitting in the car
Watching the silence of the world
Conversing, I go unheard
Sweet tea at home
A jug sitting in the fridge, untouched
Like it was left just for me
Waiting for no one to walk in
Because the comfort of family
Is out, still stuck in reality
But back in November
You would always say
That the demons I was fighting
Could never push you away
You were always there for me
Back when sweet tea wasn’t lonely
So now when I drink sweet tea,
Sometimes I forget we’re strangers.
