Nature's Break Up
Hear my dismissed cries,
hear my utter dismay
at the lack of attention
that you brushed away with the ocean tides.
When push comes to shove
what do you expect the outcomes to be?
The bouts of poison in avalanche-like waves
you injected without hesitation is boiling!
Each breath that I take
struggles with the veins of life
that you obstructed
that you dilapidated.
Each of my exhalation
trembles with my feeble bitter cries
as you wrestle away in greed
my emerald enlaced coat and cerulean jeans.
My plight today will be your plight tomorrow-
our shared memories
shall remain in the past, buried away
with your glinting artificial pretenses.

Over the course of my exploration with nature, the destructions that we as humanity wreaked upon our shared home is despairingly shocking. The tons of plastic that we poured into the sea, the acres of the Amazonian Forest that we knocked down for farmlands, the lakes and rivers that we depleted for our thirst, the animals that we kept in inhumane confinements, the volume of gases that we poured into the atmosphere is alarming. The purpose of this composition is not meant to offend, but rather to inform the wider public of the consequences associated with the convenience of a modern lifestyle. My ultimate message is that we can all work together as a global community in marvelous ways to reduce the strain that we are putting upon the shoulders of Earth.
