heart
there’d be an earthquake of change
irises, tiger lilies, and winds,
the world begins to rearrange
and our breathing—we’d restart
place your hand on my heart
and feel the blood rushing—
a stream gurgling deep within
why don’t we just let go?
in the canyon, we’d find the afterglow,
hear those deep, resonating echoes
of the swelling virtuosic violins
humming sweetly—
it’s abstract art, but what we’d need is
a change of heart
and it’s hiding in our periphery
can we unearth it?
maybe it’s hiding to stay secure
maybe our hearts
need to be shattered
but to be sure—
what if we could just risk
everything
and let ourselves fall apart?
