Stars
Stars live on for billions of years,
A lifespan so long, the feeble human mind
Cannot even begin to comprehend!
Every blink, hundreds of light-years,
Just to be perceived by us-
And if a star burns out,
We wouldn’t know for such an expanse of time.
Oft, it feels as if people are the same.
Hundreds, thousands, of years ago they lived
Names carrying on in spoken word,
In prose, in history, in memory;
How long ago did those stars burn out, unnoticed by the human eye?
How long until I burn out?
