Observation

As I sway back and forth in my creaky, old rocking chair,

pencil and notebook in hand,

a plump brown groundhog

wades through the freshly cut grass,

exposed and unaware.

Small flocks of robins glide by--

Their morning songs hang in the cool, breezy air.

Kids congregate and play,

laughter echoes throughout the neighborhood.

I am at peace as I stop

and observe.
