A past more riddled than a sphinx from 4 to 2 to 3

Only to go from 3 to 0 as my past haunts the decisions and “could have been’s” of today

The muscle in my chest rips, tears, and heals in hopes of growing stronger

The feelings flowing through that muscle that also acts as a station in it’s free time.

Picking up feelings and dropping them off with no intention of stopping transit

I apologize for my constant movement, it can’t be helped.

Despite the hard work being done, the muscle in my chest, that’s also a station, that turns out to be my heart, still finds the time to want.

My heart wants you.

Yearning for the treasure that has been found.

A treasure in my possession temporarily, tossed by my own hand.

Only to now realize what I lost.

A treasure that will shine bright with or without my polishing or admiration, but I will still continue to do so from a distance.

I can only imagine the confusion the treasure could possibly feel as I reach for it once again...I can only imagine.

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece for someone that once occupied a large percentage of my heart and mind. We had our ups and downs. There was even a point where we were no longer communicating. As time went on I found myself reaching for her once again. I found myself reaching for a treasure I already had in the past. A treasure that I threw away. A treasure I wanted once again.
