Tree of Me
I see a leaf fall from a tree
I do not know who I will be
Will I ever love?
Will I be loved?
I look up,
Could that leaf be me?
My people high up
Them and their greed
For power as if it is all that they need
The need for speed to rise above the WE
I watch them look down at me
Watching me fall as I am in need.
As I fall, I think
I am just one leaf,
But am I the only leaf like me?
Or could a gust of wind make them
Fall alongside me?
Or maybe I am not the leaf,
The helpless leaf who falls.
May I not sit there in my own grief?
So, I stand tall
Like a tree
Maybe that tree
That tree who gives back to others’ needs
The tree might be just like me
My roots are what I need
There is no greed alongside me
I know who I will be
I see a leaf fall
But I also see a tree
Standing tall.
