Falling
Overconfidence and ego
A trap that you let yourself walk into
A grasp that only lets go once it has killed you
A hideous mistake
That leaves you gripping for forgiveness
But it's intolerance rejects your pleas
You find yourself hanging by a thread
Knowing your own fate
Swinging in front of your deathbed
Soon, you hit rock bottom
And particles fly through the air
The remains of your spirit, lost.

This poem is about rock climbing, but I didn't want to make it too obvious. As any fellow climber know, falling is a very scary experience, especially when you're not attached to a rope. I wrote this to convey a message about downfall and "hitting rock bottom", to explain how that one unintentional but purposeful mistake can cost you.
