Legacy of Slavery in the United States
A Civil War being fought,
over slaves being bought,
leaves legacy never forgot.
Or is it really so?
Who are we to judge?
States' rights,
cultural divides,
economic dependence
upon manufacturing prudence.
The South doomed itself
by binding its foot to prevent progress
to a backward system
of human bondage
Now the facts are presented,
let history speak for itself.
A Civil War being fought,
over slaves being bought,
leaves legacy never forgot.
