Stand Mixer
A big, silver instrument
Occupies the kitchen counter in amusement
The stand mixer; head tilted down
Like a sewing machine; making no sound
Lifting up the head, you can see a circular space
A circular space, for putting in a bowl that makes
Delicious food!
I inject the shiny, gray bowl
In the space; turning it, though
To make sure it’s locked rigidly
So it won’t fall out unexpectedly
The stand mixer also has a handle
Marking “Lock” or “Unlock”; isn’t much of a scandal
Once the batter, chocolate and peanut butter, is placed
Into the bowl; the stand mixer raced
Against time; slicing and stirring
It’s sharp, metallic blades whirling!
At a velocity depending on the numbered power
Higher speeds don’t make the batter sour
Yet, have to be carefully maintained
The batter now seems complete
I must hurry now; to turn it into something I can eat!
