when we fell for holding on
letting go is a form of art
like the pull of a bow across a violin string
like the stroke of a brush across a canvas
like the beat of a heart touched by love
letting go is a form of art
disjointed at its wrists and
lips that forever will be missed
a pile of skin and bones and blood
on a love-touched violin canvased on the floor
letting go is a form of art
from soft sheets and soft touches
to hardwood and hard glances
with hands once grasped
now reaching
empty
letting go is a form of art
as what makes it so regretful
is that we never ever thought
we’d have to
when we fell for holding on
