Stung
The blazing Caribbean sun
beats down on me.
Paddling on my
inner tube,
I scan the water
for the elusive Bonefish.
To gain more
control,
I let my feet touch the sea bottom.
Pain.
What could it be?
A barracuda?
Or even worse, a shark?
I paddle back to shore
with the leg that isn't hurt,
and run up to the shower to cool off
the burning pain.
The icy water eases my uncomfort
until I look down
and feel the agony return.
I will never swim in the ocean again!
I realize what attacked me.
A jellyfish.
