Graduation
I cling on to my white cap
A large, rotating square where edges overlap
Into four corners near the edges
As if rehearsed; sharp like sturdy hedges
I stand in line; at first facing forward, then facing ideways
Treading quickly; freed into the sun’s yellow glaze
Lights streamed as I walked past applauding staff
My white, heeled sandals shifted like a tilting graph
Feels strange walking in them; despite days of practice
I’m definately not good at this!
I tread until I reach a line of dull-brown folding chairs
All of the students sit; surrounded by the slightly-blowing airs
Announcements sound from the podium; including a choir
My cap continues slipping from my head like a wire
The wind’s blowing at the cap; pushing it farther
Until I caught it; clinging harder
After a long wait, my name is announced
I make my way through the line and walk; my heart bounced
With nervous excitement; mixing
Yet, my eyes remain fixing
On the diploma
My feet ramped down the small steps
Sounding with echoing footfall effects
I stop shortly; smiling
A bluish flash glows; shining
As a rhythmic CLICK! sounds
The camera soon lowers; the brightness shuts down
I hurry back to my seat
Listening to the continuing Z-A name pattern screech
Along the passing time
Finally, it finishes as quick as a chime
My eyes gaze through the crowding parents
I wonder where mine are; admist this quick occurance
Feet shuffling, hands pushing, I look and look
I even call their names silently; every short minute it took
Soon, I find them; my mom, dad, and Nick
Even Danny, also graduating, gone like a thrown stick
All of us celebrate; take pictures
My smile and laughter brightens; going to miss this structure
Of high school; and all the crazy memories in it
