Is There Lack of Imagination In Today's Youth?
As heard in many observations from families across a modern society: kids these days are small-minded and just not as creative as they used to be.
For researches, they say their finding exactly that. A 2010 study of 300,000 tests from a creativity research, at the College of william and Mary, found creativity has decreased among American children in recent years. the researcher, known as Kim, said children have become less able to produce unique and unusual ideas since 1990. Also reporting that they are less humorous, less imaginative, and not able to elaborate on ideas. Experts say creativity is inborn, or natural. So it can’t really be lost, but it needs to be nurtured.
A education psychologist known as Ron Beghetto claims, “It’s not that creativity can necessarily disappear, but it can be suppressed in particular contexts.” As test become more about the focus, the idea that there is only one wrong right answer to a question, may be stopping the progress to the development of creativity among kids. Ron said “There’s not room for unexpected, novel, divergent thought,”.
“But the situation is not hopeless”. As backup to Ron and Kim's perceptions, there has been evidence to make the picture clear. Evidence suggesting that, worldwide, youngsters are very creativity, particular with their use of digital media. With the found in results, at least in their playtime, kids are becoming more imaginative.
Experts agree changes can be made in the society to develop creativity.
