Walking Dead Review
As a fan of games with high quality graphics and many different types of action commands, to the point of almost complicated, I always expected my list of favorite games to have those requirements. However, the game I’m reviewing completely surpassed my expectations, and that game would be The Walking Dead. I’ve always taken an interest in zombies, and this game took it to another level.
The Walking Dead is a game that takes place in a soon-to-be zombie run world. The main character is Lee Everett, who is just one of the many victims of the new era. As he struggles to survive in the new world he encounters many characters, who players can freely interact with in their own style, and goes through many experiences in which his decisions can determine the life or death of him and his group.
One of the major things that made me a fan of this game is the plot. Surprising would be too weak a word to describe it. It is completely tortuous, with twists and turns that will leave you in utter suspense. What makes the plot so much more fantastic is how the game player can change it. Although in all games the experience is different for each player, it typically adds up to the same thing. However in The Walking Dead, that type of feeling is almost non-existent. The player is given a huge portion of control on how the plot unfolds. The decisions the player makes are carried out throughout the entire game, so each decision affects the situation they are in and the situations later to come. The decisions vary extremely. For instance, players can change the people who like or hate them and choose who dies or not. Not only that, but most of the decisions are timed, causing you to really get caught in the heat of the moment. With such a dynamic story, you feel as if you are actually experiencing each event.
Lastly are the characters, which I must say are amazing. Each one has so much depth and personality to them, it feels as if the voice actors are not trying to act at all, but are just being themselves. As I mentioned earlier, your decisions affect your game play, including the characters. It is a phenomenal experience to see how each character reacts and responds to the main character based on what you do. Depending on how you play, you could make one character hate you and the other like, and you have the ability to even make their positions switch if you start a new game. Not only that, but it is not a sloppy and quick-paced progression of feelings that would make a player aware of what they did wrong, but each reaction is a completely logical and human way to respond to the certain events. This allows the player to be even more involved with each character, giving a sense of realism to them.
In all, The Walking Dead is an amazing game with many intriguing attractions. The comics-based graphics support the game even more, since the game used to be a comic. Each feature of the game completely absorbs me, and causes it to be an awesome experience. If you are looking for a plot driven story with zombies coming along, this is definitely a game you have to play.
