Jordan

I awake with a start as ice cold sweat pours off my face, drenching my pillow. This has happened all weekend, the same awful dream replaying over and over again. But I don’t know if I can call it a dream, because it seems too real; the oddly formilar girl, her pain, the forest, the blood… and the taxi.

I sit up and turn so my feet hit the floor boards with a soft “thud.”

I put some new clothes on and my sweatshirt, I put it on and headed down stairs. As I make it to the bottom step I am hit in the face with two things: my dog’s tennis ball and the smell of burning toast and crispy bacon.

I catch the ball before it hit’s the ground and throw it into the living room.

“Jordan!” my Mom yells from the kitchen.

I slowly walk into the kitchen. I caught off guard as soon as my feet touch the stone tile. The kitchen was… clean. Too clean.

“So, Mom,” I say as I grab a slice of bacon. “Who is coming over?”

“Your sister, Mikki,” My mother told me with a look of grief.

That was when I knew something was wrong. I could see it in her face.

“Why, is something wrong?” I ask.

“There has been an accident,”

“What!?!”

“Well this weekend, Mikki…Urg.. I don’t know how to say this.” My mother said as her eyes started to swell.

“Mom, you’re scaring me,”

“Well, Jordan, Mikki was kidnapped and beaten” my mother cries out, as tears cover her face.

“How badly is she hurt?” I ask wishing not to know the answer.

“She is pretty cut up but nothing life threatening, but she is always tired, so she is coming to stay with us.” my mother said as she grabs a sponge and silently starts cleaning the stove.

I sit down slowly. I am in complete shock, because who could do such a thing? And to Mikki! Mikki is the best sister I could ask for. She is smart, funny, and very pretty. We have been best friends since birth, but we are the complete opposite. Except that we look exactly alike, we are identical twins.

“Bbbut mom, who did it?” I ask while a single tear slowly rolls off my eyelash onto my hand.

“No,” Is all she would tell me.

“Do you think he will come looking for her here?” I ask.

“I don’t know Jordan, I just don’t know.”

Mikki

I sit with my head against the cold car window as hearts and flowers disappear into the wet frost.

“Mikki, please don’t do that, when it dries later the hearts and flowers will still be there,” my friend Mike tells me.

“Oh, sorry,” was all I could say.

“We are almost to your house,” Mike tells me.

I just nod and stare out the window and slowly drift into a dream filled sleep.

Jordan

After I helped my mom all day cleaning out mikki’s room we started to watch TV. As we started to watch my mom’s favorite movie “Grease”, I fell asleep half way through thru the first scene. While I slept the awful dreams started to make sense.

Mikki

The same taste was in my mouth. I slowly turn, and see the same sick forest around me once again, with the same sick smell of blood still lingering in the moist air.

I step forward towards the yellow taxi but as I got closer it blurred and disappeared.

“Mikki!” Came a shocked voice from the darkness of the car. “Are you ok? You were crying and yelling in your sleep.”

“What?…Oh yeah, I’m fine.” I say as I gently sit up. “It must have been a bad dream or something.”

“Well ok, I just wanted to tell you that your home.” Mike said as he got out of the car and opened my door.

I stepped out of the car and the cold fall air hits me square in the face. I lean on mike as I struggle to the house door.

I stepped up onto the porch as the front door flew open and I see my mother rushing towards me.

“Mikki! Oh I’m so sorry! Are you ok?” my mother asks as she hugged me tightly.

“Oh, I’m fine mom.” I grunt as I nearly fall over from the over powering hug.

My mom helps me into the house, when we make it to the couch in the living room I see my twin sister Jordan fast asleep. I sit down next to her and almost as soon as my eyes start to flutter from holding back sleep, mikes cell phone ring and he tells me something but I fall fast asleep.

Jordan

I was driving and waiting, just driving and waiting for something.

I’m some how in the passenger seat of a taxi. I’ve been in the taxi for awhile now, the driver is a strange man; he has long silver shoulder length hair, sky blue eyes and a scruffy unshaven face. His clothes are odd as well, he wore a hawian tee shirt and a torn up fishing cap.

I have already tried talking to him and I have already tried getting out of the car but…It’s like I’m a ghost that is a prisoner in a taxi cab. I can’t do anything I just sit there. The taxi goes around and around in the same circle over again, but then final stops at a curb.

And I witness my twin sister Mikki being kidnapped and beaten over and over in my sleep every night. She has nightmares every night, reliving her awful experience in her sleep, over and over again as well. Even though the taxi driver has left her alone for about 2 years now. Or so we thought….

Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
I wish, I wish he’d go away...

The ending sucked. The rest was better than the first one.
