Curtain Call is Underrated

     Eminem is by far the most successful rap artist of the 2000s. 50 Cent even said in an interview with Music Choice, “Hip Hop is Black music, without question, and, unfortunately for some people, it's tough to accept that you have a White artist that does it better than Black artists.” He then goes on to say, “It is what it is. You can get like whoever you think is the best Black artist and stand them face-to-face in a room with Em and he will eat that [guy] alive.” Everyone loves Eminem and everyone gives him credit for how great he is. And being one of the greatest rappers of all time, he has released some very good albums. His music from the beginning of his career until 2005 was amazing and people still listen to that music even to this day. He must have thought of putting all his best and most successful songs in one album. In 2005, he released “Curtain Call: The Hits”.;
      Curtain Call was Eminem’s first compilation album and his seventh album in total. He took all his best work from his previous albums and put them into one playlist for the whole world to enjoy. But technically, if his best work was in one album, doesn’t that make that album the best album?
     From Eminem’s first album, his two biggest selling songs were “My Name Is” and “Guilty Conscience”. “My Name Is” was Em’s first big hit on his first album. Both of the songs mentioned above appear on Curtain Call. From his highest selling album, “The Marshall Mathers LP”, the two highest selling songs, “Stan” and “The Real Slim Shady,” both are part of Curtain Call’s song list. From “The Eminem Show,” the two highest selling songs, “Without Me” and “Cleanin’ out my closet” show up on the compilation.
     Curtain Call was the 49th highest selling album in 2021 (Reed). The album was released in 2005 and people are still buying it 16 years later. This just shows how important this album is to Eminem fans and to people who enjoy Eminem’s music. Back when it was released in 2005, the album peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold around 400,000 copies in two days. But to date, the album has sold around 7 million copies and has broken the record for longest standing album in the Billboard 200 with more than 10 years on the chart.
     Out of all of Eminem’s amazing albums, this one stands out. It includes nostalgic and classic discography. It performed well and includes Eminem’s best work all in one album. It shows what Eminem had achieved so early in his career already and I think it was a way of bragging for Eminem. His career started only 9 years before this compilation, and it was a way of bragging and of saying that look what I have done in 9 years. I genuinely think this is Eminem’s best release.
