The Penguin: You're just jealous, because I'm a genuine freak and you have to wear a mask!
Batman: You might be right.

Tim Burton has Returned for his second take or follow up (it's up to you) to Batman from 1989. If I were to compare the two films (as much as I like them both almost equally) I think it wold be safe to say that I like this one a TINY bit more. I like the cool Christmas/Halloween vibe present here. There is more ridiculous action and dialogue and characters and story lines and so fourth that sum this up to a movie that possibly has a little more to offer.

The Penguin: Gotta fly!

There are various aspects of this movie that are just so unbelievable and ridiculous. The dialogue is cheesy and the way the story is set up is just ludicrous. For example, Catwoman can literally be killed nine times, hence being so cat-like. While incredibly ridiculous and over-the-top I think if you accept the somewhat stupid story lines within this movie you can really have fun with it.

Catwoman: Batman napalmed my arm, he knocked me off a building just when I was starting to feel good about myself. I wanna play an integral part in his degradation.
The Penguin: A plan is forming.
Catwoman: I want in. The thought of busting Batman makes me feel all... dirty. Maybe I'll just give myself a bath right here.
[licks herself in a cat-like manner]

Michael Keaton is pretty much the same as he was in the first film but I still really like him in this. He is FAR more believable as both Batman and Bruce Wayne than Val Kilmer or George fucking Clooney!

Bruce Wayne: You know what, I mistook me for somebody else.

Danny DeVito is obviously great in this. Although The Penguin is not exactly portrayed in this as he is in the comics, DeVito still makes a pretty creepy and fun performance that still holds up to be considered iconic 20 years later.

The Penguin: You didn't invite me, so I CRASHED!

In my original review of this movie, I wrote that Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman was a fault here. I don't know where the hell I was coming from when I wrote that. I must have not watched this in a while, because after a recent viewing I realized that she is probably one of, if not, THE best aspect from Batman Returns! Much like the first 1989 Batman, I used to watch "Returns" a lot when I was about nine or 10 years old. I am pretty sure Pfeiffer's performance in this is what turned me into a man the day I first watched this.

Catwoman: Life's a b****, so am I.

That is basically what this movie is all about for me: Nostalgia! And some pretty awesome nostalgia at that, since today I am still impressed.

Catwoman: You said you were going to scare the Ice Princess.
The Penguin: She looked pretty scared to me!
