Thrillers are suspenseful, action packed, and keep you on the edge of your seat. Prior to watching Unhinged, my expectations were low. I didn’t expect it to have much action. But This brutal thriller showed the rage and nervousness festering in everyone.

The creator of Unhinged, Derrick Borte, and screenwriter Carl Ellsworth left you on the edge of your seat asking for more. Unhinged (2020) stars Rachel Hunter, a mother who can’t seem to get her life together. She is just trying to get her son, Kyle, to school in the middle of rush hour traffic. After Rachel honks at Tom Cooper, an unstable man is having a bad day, he decides to show her, “her worst day ever”.

Thrillers should also keep the action going. This movie did exactly that. You were never able to see what was going to happen next, and this movie had many plot twists and close encounters. The beginning had a slow pace, but the plot escalated which made it interesting to watch. The whole movie led up to the ending which left you satisfied. Even though the plot isn’t complex there was a lot of action to make up for it.

Russell Crow, who played Tom Cooper, acted well; you can see his rage throughout the movie. Caren Pistorius, who played Rachel, also did a good job acting as you can see how scared she was for herself and her family.

The special effects throughout the movie like the scenes that involved blood, were realistic and made you think that the characters were really injured. These scenes were all put together in a well structured way that helped the film flow nicely, for example when the scenes would cut to Rachel running from Tom Cooper to Tom chasing her in his truck. In certain scenes it was a little too gory, but it helped get the point across and make the movie successful.

After watching this film I was satisfied with how it ended, you were able to feel the adrenaline throughout the film, and also held many emotions and aspects a thriller needs for it to be a good one. The actors were very passionate in their role and did a good job playing their part to make you feel their emotions. This movie succeeded with multiple different aspects like the actors and their passion along with the plot made it a good thriller.

I've watched this movie with my family before and it was very good, it made me realize that I need to start respecting more people on the roads.
