Moana, is a disney animated movie about a polynesian girl that has to take over the village she was raised in, but not everything ended up going to plan as the island began to die. This movie is filled with many great actors with the most known being The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, starring as Maui in this film. Other actors include Auliʻi Cravalho starring as the main character Moana. This movie, filmed in 2016, used a strategy that I have never seen before.

The movie started with a slow developing plot, with the main character having little to no problems. Therefore, because there was no conflict earlier in the movie it could result in a loss  of interest. 

Although the movie can be boring at times, the soundtrack left everyone in my family singing the songs for days to come. The songs were placed at the right time, giving the reader either a stronger understanding of the characters or the overall plot. The song led by Maui, Dwayne Johnson, titled Your Welcome, adds a very fun and  positive energy to the movie. The scene it was placed in added to the development of his character as well.Another example is the song “How Far I’ll Go”, showing how Moana (Main Character) has this passion for the water, and the exploration of it. Not only did these songs help develop the characters, it also helped engage the younger audience.

 As I watched this movie, it was very clear that the producers were thinking of  a younger kids’ attention span. This was shown with the use of songs. As the movie began to drag on a little too long without something interesting happening, they would use a song to get the audience's attention back. This is something that Disney hasn’t been doing in the past as much, but I could definitely see them using it more in the future. 

In the end, this movie far surpasses many of Disney's previous movies, with the interesting  plot,  and the outstanding soundtrack to go along with it.
