Tangled Movie Review

Disney movies nowadays have trouble capturing the hearts of people the same way they did years ago. When I was growing up, High School Musical, Camp Rock, Lemonade Mouth, Princess Protection Program were all some of my favorites. But Tangled, an 2010 animated film, does an amazing job keeping us drawn in and captured the hearts of many in a way that movies rarely do anymore.

Tangled is the story of a girl, Rapunzel(voiced by Mandi Moore) who has been trapped in a tower her whole life after being taken by a mean old lady as a baby, who she assumes to be her mother. In order to let her mother in the tall castle each day, she lets down her hair and allows for her to climb up. However, it seems all this mean old lady really wants is Rapunzel's hair to keep her “young”. This was working for her mother until a mysterious young man discovered the tower and climbs up her hair for the first time, changing Rapunzel’s life forever.

This coming of age movie allows many to see what a new perspective can allow into the world. One of my favorite parts was all the twists and turns of Rapunzel exploring the new world. It captures perfectly what it can be like to see the world for the first time. Whether you are 7 years old or 17, watching a movie of a girl falling in love and experiencing life for the first time is a magical thing to watch bloom.

With an already amazing plot, we can easily follow along with the movie’s relatable and fun songs , such as two of my personal favorites,  “When will my Life Begin” and “I see the Light”. “I see the Light” is a bit of a tear jerker; it allows us to see Rapunzel’s true emotions and her growing connection with the character Flynn Rider. My other favorite, “When will my Life Begin” is a relatable piece and allows us to see Rapunzel’s true feelings about life, adding on to the movie's success.

Flynn Rider and Pascal add to the list of enjoyable characters. Throughout the movie, Flynn Rider is developed as someone who is very witty and slowly starts to bond with a horse named Max. They did not bond at first, but adding to Flynn Rider’s character, it is the perfect duo. Additionally, Pascal is Rapunzel’s animal best friend, seeing her through all of the hard things she had to go through. With Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider and Donna Murphy as mother, this has become one of the best movies which came out of Disney.

Tangled, Disney’s 2010 animated rendition of Rapunzel, was an amazing film of its time and is still watched by many. This animated romantic comedy will capture your heart from any age and will make you want to truly live in the world.
