Review on The Batman
Made with spectacular creativity, three hours of watching The Batman didn’t feel that long . Intense and emotional scenes were always taking place. This iteration of Batman was made from who Batman really was as a person on the inside compared to just seeing him with a suit on getting rid of criminals, which made the movie stand out.
This film was just filmed with full confidence. After watching this movie you can definitely see how much work and creativity was put into making this. What I noticed that was fascinating was that the movie was sometimes filmed in point of view scenes, where you are in the character’s shoes and you really see what they feel and why they feel this way. A POV of Batman solving crime was really interesting because it has never been showcased that the masked man is thoroughly thinking out a riddle. When watching, you would enjoy the mystery of this movie. This movie will scare you too.
Compared to other Batman movies, the development of everyone’s character felt stronger. The riddler played as a modern day criminal mastermind. As the movie continued you could tell the Riddler was really Batman’s antagonist. The Riddler comes along, his identity not known by anyone, but has been killing relatively important or rich people then leaving a riddle behind. That riddle tells them where he will be next or who he will kill. This has been in previous movies but in this film, the riddles are extra important for the plot of the story. His smarts and awkwardness made him such a scary character because you would never know what would happen. He is always steps ahead of the police and sometimes even Batman.
All Batmans have a high thought and are expected to always be good. This Batman movie definitely exceeded many people’s expectations. There was already a high line of what to expect because Batman is such a known protagonist, but the movie exceeded the line in so many ways.
Robert Pattinson’s Batman was more than just crime fighting Batman. Intense feelings and dark emotions were always circling in his mind when fighting in the dark stormy nights. As he read the riddles, it seemed as if he was always getting smarter. No one could compare to him. After taking his suit off from the night, his makeup under the eyes made him look dark on the inside. All of the things he has seen and dealt with, only to keep Gotham safe. When criminals are on a stormy night and see a dark alleyway or corner, they run because Batman hides in the shadows.
One thing I personally liked about scenes in the movie was when the Riddler had written his riddles. You (the movie watcher) could sometimes figure out what the answer to the riddle was. Continuing on with what I liked about the little things, the soundtracks/songs they used were amazing. One of the songs that really stood out to just about everyone that watched The Batman was Something in the Way by Nirvana. Depending on how old you are, you might’ve not known the song. I personally didn’t know the song but I knew what had happened to Kurt Cobain (the singer). The song gives you an ery feeling and it’s almost a depressing song in a good way. When you add The Batman and the song together, they match up perfectly.
The song was played at dark parts of the movie but also at a specific part at the very end. Lots of things happened in Gotham and now Batman and the people of Gotham have to rebuild their city. The song started playing as everyone was helping each other out. This scene was also taking place during dawn/sunrise so that depressing or deep feeling turns into relief; meaning that the crimes are temporarily done and everyone can now come together.
Overall, I really liked The Batman and I would recommend it to anyone as long as they can watch a 3 hour long movie. The recent superhero and just marvel/dc movies that have come out really set a high line and I think that The Batman exceeded that line and people’s thoughts.
