Until the Quiet Comes

How many short films have left you wondering and second-guessing your every thought? Not many right. If you want a mystery short film and music video in one I would highly recommend “Until the Quiet Comes”. A short film and music video directed by Kahil Joseph. A man well known for his other works with big artists like Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar. Not only that but this film also contains the works of Flying Lotus a musician well known for other albums like “You’re Dead!”. If that is not enough to convince you let me give you a few more reasons.

This film has so many hidden messages and meanings it is a conspiracy theorist’s dream come true. Although at first glance “Until the Quiet Comes” may seem strange and all over the place its messages are like no others. Just a couple of theories that ran in my mind while I watch this film was how the water signified numerous things. From life and rebirth to death.  Like how in the film the empty pool of water signifies that death was to come. But if you really aren’t into hidden messages and whatnot. Maybe the film’s overall music might compel you to watch it.

The music is like no other and is very unique from what you would usually hear. It is somewhat eerie and relaxing yet at the same time it feels like something from an enchanted forest. The music makes you want to listen to it over and over again because of how unique each beat and sound is. Flying Lotus had put many completely different sounds together to make such a beat that just somehow worked. One example that I would like to share was when the kids were running through the field. The music during that time was eerie and intriguing, it honestly sounded like something straight out of the Walking Dead. But if even after all this you still aren’t convinced I would like to give you two more reasons.

If you would not watch “Until the Quiet Comes” after all the reasons that I have stated so far at less give the short film a watch because of its visuals. Each scene was beautifully made and had so much detail put into each one, each scene could be its own beautiful image. Just a scene that comes to mind as I write this was at the beginning of the film. Showing the boy floating on top of the pool. This may sound boring but the way they executed this scene and all other scenes were just amazing, to say the least.

If even after all of this does not convince you all it would take is a simple search and around 5 minutes of your time at most.

So even if you do not want to watch “Until the Quiet Comes” I would still like to thank you for reading my little review. But I would still highly recommend you to at less give it a watch.

I had lots of fun writing this review for "Until the Quiet Comes" and is actually my first time writing a movie or short film review so I hope you enjoy it.
