Are you picky when it comes to movies or shows because I am. I only really like horror, Even when I was younger and most horror movies scared me, all my favorite movies were considered “creepy” or “scary”. One movie that is a prime example is Coraline, but that's not the movie we're here to talk about. The movie that is the most memorable is The Nightmare Before Christmas. It's not hard to tell that I like this movie. It's my backpack and my art bag, but the main reason I like this movie so much is my cousin. Saying thats lets go back to the first time I ever saw this movie.

Back in the fall of 2010. When I was at the young age of 6, my mom decided to take me and my older sister to Maine to see some family. We packs are bags and drove the three and a half hours down to there house. We got to there small house at 6:30-7 Pm. They live in a very remote area with one neighbor. The house is not the biggest but it’s nice, it's super old. When I asked my aunt she told me that the house was built back in the 1800s. After we got settled in when the younger of my two cousins, Katelyn called me and my sister into the living room. We walked from the guest room into the living room. The living room too this day has a tan fabric couch and two recliners. It has a small greenish carpet and the room is all wood. They have a small lap on a metal table and a wood coffee table in the middle of the room. At the time they had a bookshelf full of games in the corner of the room. Katelyn was sitting on the couch. Her medium-long black hair with purple stripes. She wore all black.

“I'm gonna watch a movie, do you want to watch it too?” she asked. My mom then leand out of the guest room.

“what movie?” she asked.

“Nightmare Before Christmas.” my cousin answered and beyond for my sister and me to sit. My sister went and sat next to my cousin but I was hesitant. I was a very quiet kid even back then and I had more of an attachment to the older of the two cousins Rachel, so I almost felt out of place.  My mom then walked out and took a seat in one of the recliners. I glanced at mom, then went and sat in the other recliner. She hit play and let the movie begins. The movie starts out with a spooky town full of monsters, the town of Halloween. The 1st song is “This Is Halloween”.

“Boys and girls of every age wouldn't you like to see something strange?”

As a young kid, I didn't understand why they were singing about Halloween, I didn't get why my cousin got so excited for Halloween and this movie. As we watched I started to slowly hate this movie. I didn't understand it. After the movie was over we decided to head to bed. The next day I got up early and headed into the kitchen. My cousin was up making pancakes, they sizzled quietly in the pan. she was still singing this is Halloween to herself quietly.

“This is Halloween, this is Halloween pumpkins scream in the dead of night.”

I sat down at the table and asked.

“Why do you like that movie so much?” she just smiled and answered

“It's just a good movie.” this made me even more confused.

Present-day: I hated that movie so much for years because I didn't understand it. My thought was, why to have a movie about an annoying unimportant holiday. To me, this movie was useless and dumb. But as I got older and watched it again. I started to fall in love. Now I love this movie it has become my favorite Halloween movie. Although I still don't watch much tv and movies. This is one movie I will always watch on Halloween.
