Good Will Hunting is one of the greatest movies of all time and helped to shape Matt Damon's career. The movie revolves around Will Hunting, who happens to be a twenty year old with a genius-level IQ that chooses to work as a janitor at MIT. After he discovers an extremely difficult math equation written on a chalkboard, Will finishes the equation, and by doing that, an award winning mathematician professor discovers the janitor's potential. Because only a handful of people in the world can solve the problem, Will's brilliance is quickly demonstrated. The professor goes to find Hunting, but the teacher only discovers the genius after Will gets arrested for assault. While in jail, Will makes a deal with the professor to work with him a few times a week and go to therapy once a week, and in return, he will be released from prison.

After working with Will, the professor learns that the Hunting's bright mind could be once-in-a generational and could potentially rival the likes of Albert Einstein. However, things aren't going so smoothly with the therapy. Will doesn't think that he needs it, so he goes out of his way to be obnoxious, difficult, and be as unhelpful as possible. Because of this, the mathematician professor goes to an old friend of his and asks him to act as a psychologist to Will. The main goal of the therapy is to help Will with his issues and teach him that he should be making better use of his time, not getting drunk with his friends, getting into fist fights, spending way too much time at a bar, and working as a construction worker, but instead use his brains for the better good of mankind.

It takes awhile, but Will soon opens up to the psychologist, and a close, powerful bond is soon created. However, the same cannot be said about the relationship between the psychologist and the mathematician. The professor wants to make the psychologist convince young Will about his need to change the world and do what the teacher would do, if he had Will's mind. Because the professor understands Will on a more personal level, he refuses to, and this causes many feuds between the two old friends as they quarrel over the right way to handle Will's situation. But at the end of the day, Will is confronted with unlimited possibilities, and he is forced to decide what he wants to do with his life, regardless of what everyone else thinks, which happens to be something Will hasn't even begun to dwell on.

Matt Damon is just perfect as Will Hunting, and he just couldn't have acted any better. Robin Williams as the psychologist is a perfect match, and the combination of a perfecting acting duo between Matt Damon and Robin Williams, as well as Will Hunting and his best friend, who's played by Ben Affleck (Damon's best friend at the time the movie was made) helps to create the actors' chemistry with one another to the next level.

The dialogue of Good Will Hunting is simply brilliant and is just spectacular to say the least. The ending of the movie is heartwarming, beautiful, and truly helps to elevate this movie to the next level, as well as match the greatness that the middle and the beginning create. The beginning starts things off incredibly and sets the tone for the rest of the movie to follow, and the middle just continues to add on to this amazingness without over-complicating the plot, but, instead, is packed to the brim with character development and emotionally rich scenes.

The visual effects of the movie aren't exactly the greatest, but they aren't needed. The movie doesn't need any images, because the actors and the dialogue is just so superb that visuals aren't even considered in the slightest bit when people view Good Will Hunting. Not only was the movie an enormous hit with viewers, but it was also a triumphant hit with critics. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie an outstanding 97%, and it seems like everyone is a fan of the compelling story that's just about as good as they get. Good Will Hunting is one of the movie industry's greatest and is an absolute must see for just about anyone and everyone that is able to watch a movie with some explicit language.
