The Summoning by Kelly Armstrong
All Chloe Saunders wants is to be a normal 15 year old girl. She had good friends, an obsession with films, and even a little bit of a crush. But now she is discovering she has never been ordinary. After being chased down the halls by a ghost, Chloe is sent to Lyle House; an institution for “crazy” kids. Since her arrival at the home, she discovers all of the patients at Lyle House, seem to have paranormal powers. Locked up, scared and seeing dead people, Chloe decides to uncover what is really going on. Is Lyle House hiding something? Or is Chloe really crazy?
This is the type of book you cannot put down. As you turn each page the suspense grows bigger and bigger. You’ll have emotions flowing in every direction as you follow Chloe’s journey to find her true self. The book is full of adventure, horror, and laughs. The author described the situations so well you can picture them perfectly, as if you’re in the story yourself. Standing in the Laundry room helping Rae, Taking out the garbage, Seeing Liz, and sneaking around at night with Rae, you feel like you are doing all of those, in a dream. A dream you cannot wake up from, that is so scary, so intense, and so realistic you’re terrified. But at the same time you don’t want to wake up, you crave the answers, and as a result you continue reading. I would recommend this book to anyone, even those not so interested in paranormal subjects. This book is absolutely amazing and I hope they will enjoy it as much as I did.
