Hazel Grace is a sixteen-year-old girl who got diagnosed with cancer when she was thirteen. Originally she was diagnosed with Thyroid but with a long-settled satellite colony in her lungs. Hazel lives in Indianapolis and spends most of her days watching reality shows, reading the same book over and over again and constantly going to the doctors for checkup. Her mom thought she was depressed so she took Hazel to the doctor. Doctor Jim recommended going to a support group. The support group is at a church in “the heart of Jesus”, there are kids with varieties of cancers and Patrick helps them with emotional support. At the support group she meets Augustus Waters who is eight-teen years old and has a prosthetic leg and is in love with hazel. Augustus’s best friend, Isaac has a glass eye and will need to get surgery to remove his last eye which will make him blind; Isaac brought Augustus to the support group and that’s how Hazel and Augustus meet.
Hazel’s favorite book is The Imperial affliction. The book ends with the middle of a sentence so she is curious how it ends. Augustus read the book as well and thought it would make Hazel happy if he emailed the author to find out what happened. The author emailed back and said to meet them in Amsterdam so they can discuss what happens at the end. The day before they were about to leave, Hazel wakes up and can’t breathe so she gets admitted to the hospital immediately. She couldn’t breathe because liquid filled her lungs.
To find out what happens next you have to read the book! This book makes you realize that you need to live your life to the fullest and spend your life with people who love and care for you. You also realize that you don’t need to leave a legend and have millions of people remember you; you only need one person to love you with all their heart. This book makes you think twice. If you like books that have a strong message about love and living a life to the fullest no matter what the condition is then this is the book for you. You should buy this book immediatly and read it because
