The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima
Cinda Williams Chima’s novel The Warrior Heir , published in 2006, was an amazing story of magic, adventure, and strong warriors. This novel, not only being a wonderful start to a magnificent series, has started off on a teens perspective of this fictional world.
Jack Swift has lived a normal and happy life ever since a doctor saved his life from heart problems as a baby. Now the only thing Jack has to worry about is school, girls, and taking his heart medicine. But everything in his life changes when he forgets to take the medicine before soccer tryouts. Starting with Jack’s aunt Linda coming to town all of the sudden wanting to take him to see where is dead relatives are. That’s when things start to spin out of control; fights, traps, and danger lurks around every corner once Jack finds the truth about his inherited genes.
The history of the Weir is of the cousins who tried to steal a magical dragons jews but swallowed them when they almost got caught. The cousins had realized that the jews made them magical. So one of the cousins brewed a sleeping potion to make the dragon sleep forever, but as long as the cousins keep peace between each other the dragon will not awake.
In my opinion this book has the right amount of adventure, suspense, and thrilling fights all to learn the truth about the Weirs and their many unjust Games. The most exciting part of the plot is when Jack enters the Games and finds out who his opponent. But that will remain a mystery unless you read the book.
