Drinking Age Should Be Lowered
Although I agree with the overall premise of the article, I feel the factual support could be stronger. For example, the author states that even though it’s illegal, kids always find ways to obtain alcohol. In my opinion, making it even easier for minors to possess alcohol won’t solve the problem. The law creates an equilibrium of kids only being able to get drinks maybe once a month or so. It’s been scientifically proven that large quantities of alcohol during development damage the brain. A more modest lowering of the drinking age is more appropriate. I liked the author’s concept that an eighteen-year-old is legally allowed to kill someone in the military but not to drink. The author makes a few valid points but lacks solid evidence to support the claim. Instead, he uses bias and personal opinion.
