The writing titled “I am Autistic,” written by Chloe Anderson, talks about how autistic people are not any different. She says that an austic teen goes through the same stuff as any teenager. Her writing left me feeling happy and proud. I agree with Chloe because autistic people are funny and they can be a really awesome best friend. I have a cousin with Autism and she is just like any other family member. In the text, Chloe says, “I get crushes on girls and boys just like any other person.” My cousin, Abby loves boys. Abby always talks about her crushes and she even asks me for advice. She is a normal teenage girl with the same teenage drama. Also Chloe says, “We aren’t people with tragic lives. We aren’t worthless.” One of Abby’s favorite things is when we stay at their house over the weekend. She smiles almost the whole time we are visiting. She is a happy person that does not hate herself for who she is. Abby is not worthless. I love going to Columbus to visit Abby, and Chloe is right, people with Autism should be appreciated year round.
