My Grandfather
I remember his snow-white hair.
I remember his light blue eyes, that were the same color as mine.
I remember that he'd play "war" with my grandmother and I.
I remember listening to the stories he told about his days in the band.
I remember the brown rocking chair that he was always in.
I remember the red stress ball in his fisted hands.
I remember when he went on that walk but never came back until someone found him.
I remember playing piano for him when he was in the nursing home.
I remember crying after he had asked who I was and if my name was, "Roxie".
I remember when I got in the car to go home and my mother told me the news.
I remember crying for the rest of the day.
I remember attending his funeral and playing Candy Crush because I could not bare the pain of listening.
I remember standing outside and seeing the burial of somone who used to know and love me.
I remember my grandfather.
