In the Land of the Rising Sun
In the land of the rising sun
My feet were tired and sore
And eating raw fish with relatives
Was an absolute bore.
In the land of the rising sun
You caught my eye
And soon we were both staring
A moment, you and I.
In the land of the rising sun
I couldn't help but wish
That you were a Japanese
Who could speak English.
In the land of the rising sun
I was there for family fun
But instead I looked for you
Searching for a month.
In the land of the rising sun
I won't forget the smile you gave
Or the way your eyes squinted
Or how you briefly waved.
In the land of the rising sun
You don't speak English, Japanese rather
And soon I learned the hard way
That language is a barrier.
I wrote this based on my personal experience when we had a family vacation in Japan. This expresses my true dissapointment with language barriers.
