Sonnet of Prometheus
We gather together on this new night
To learn of Prome'theus and his great plan,
So cunning and ripe and fit with bright light,
Steal away fire and give it to man!
He found out hearts belonged to himself,
He strung up our love and threw it about,
Among the broad world we were his last shelf,
A hope to grow bigger without true doubt.
A fennel in hand, he lit up the skies!
He made off, a star, into the dark,
Made trouble a'more and into his eyes,
Came a fierce bird to muddle its mark.
Goodly Prometheus meant us the best
The god paid a price so that we could rest.
