restart
give me the world for a minute, two, three.
watch the hour--watch it dim, watch it glow,
let it last and let it go. please, give me
the fence, the grass, the tree, and they will grow.
a day murmurs a sentence, two, three, four,
swelling as it floats up, up, and away.
watch--a balloon tangled mid-air, a war
in which both sides lose--watch it betray
the fence, the grass, the tree, pinpricks of home,
but no, it floats up, up, and away, not
daring to face the wind--so, watch it roam.
then let it, like the rest, plunge down, distraught.
landing softly, hard earth meets silk cotton.
isn't it blissful to be forgotten?
