Dry and smooth feet press against the hot sand. Birds sing the song of summer, I am free. The rough and prickly hammocks brush my hand. The open air makes me not want to flee.

Can this top a summer of a lifetime? I'm not a loner, but I'm having a blast. I found some treasure, a nickel, a dime. I am having so much fun will this last>

Fearful thoughts hit me like bullets in war. I open my bruised eyes, I am alone. Follow the path of wreckage, I am sore. My arm twisted in half, I see the bone.

My heart beats, it's a mechanical mine. Click! Click! Breathing hard, shivers down my spine.
