American
Ever since the apple was first bitten
The clean teeth of teens have gnawed at the chain
Rebellion has been overwritten,
and yet its blue blood continues to stain
We don’t need the warm fire in our house
because we have the truth that we distort
The lies we tell on the right route
keep us warm in the night at the golf course
Throwing newspapers knocking on the door
to wake up my neighbours in uniform
They strip at the bus stop to look like whores
Its a civil war both army’s forlorn
Ride down the street, houses lit from within,
watch the shadows as the cycle begins
