You who yearn for more within,
Like a desert lacking rain.
Empty, parched you can't refrain,
A beggar that grasps for more than what's been.

Always trying to fill the void,
With things lacking substance.
Your empty pit thirsts for sustenance,
Your husk of a soul is being destroyed.

With outstretched arms you grab handfuls of sand,
Doing all you can to feel alive.
Yet it seems you barely survive,
Like grains of sand, life slips through your hand.

Understand that nothing brings you torment,
Unless, in your mind, it bears consent.

"take it with a grain of sand," this poem embodies that mentality. Keep calm and carry on my friends.

I like the message and simile in this poem! My favorite line is "Your husk of a soul is being destroyed." Keep up the good work! :D
