Favorite Quote:
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...."

As I stare down
the beast on the other side
of the window, I tremble in fear and
exhale
when he turns to me.
Little do I know
that all he sees is his reflection;
little do I know
that I cower behind a mirror.
So I thank the beast
for his merciful heart,
unaware
of its lack thereof.

The author's comments:
One night, while I was sitting up in bed, a strange thought pulled me in into somewhat of a trance. I wrote it down into my journal, fearing that if I didn't I would have a nightmare of the same nature. This poem was kept short and simple in order to allow the reader to take it in and think of it as a whole. Although there are several interpretations to it, the main idea I believe it portrays is "actions mistaken as good intentions."
