A girl of Air
When my slumber erodes,
I see fields beyond me,
I taste the morning dew,
Never looking back at the cloudy skies;
They beckon me with their downy voices,
Wanting my flight to follow adventures,
That I never knew EXISTED.
I wish I had more options,
Wanting, needing with all my might,
To let my opinions flow,
And run down the river that is life,
Cold to the touch,
Caressing me in hope and youth;
MY WANTING,
My need.
I am the kind of girl who is loud and
OUT-THERE,
I stand bold and proud,
Like a wildflower in a land of muted vegetation,
That smells of fresh air
And clean ground;
I stand with my opportunities in hand.
I never thought,
Never dreamed,
Never knew a life without love and
TOGETHERNESS,
Embracing me in its wide, honest arms,
Never leaving my side-
Its shadow always remains within me.
In my past life,
I was the warm breeze of early June,
Breathing into whispers of trees,
And tingles on the back of little girls necks,
Making them smile,
SING, SIGH.
I was free.
I am as free as air.
As air.
