WHO THEY THINK I AM
Everyone thinks of me
As someone that I’ve never been
To them I am nothing
But someone full of unforgivable sin
And those who still love me
Believe me to be lost
Searching for myself again
But to naïve to know the cost
All in all they’ve all lost hope
The one they once knew and loved is gone
Replaced by someone sad and cold
Whose emotions can be turned off and on
I know somehow deep inside
The one the need is there
The only person they gave me a second glance for
Is hiding in me somewhere
If they only knew the truth
That only I can know
They would probably run away
And their faces never again to me show
The truth is this, keep it safe
I don’t want to go back
I can’t be the one they want
The one so full of tact
The young one they used to know
So obedient and would never dare interrupt
The laughing child from whom all found joy
Was forced to grow up
So if you miss me here’s a thought
Embrace who I’ve become
I can’t please everyone so why should I try
Now all I can feel is turning numb
So all who are judging me
Oh well I can’t bring myself to care
All the people I used to strive to please
Are never even there
So to everyone that is putting me down
Listen this final time
I’m not the one you want me to be
So get a life and stay out of mine
