As petals tear from flaming flowers,
Burning red in the ice-cold air,
As I am intrigued by new powers,
I obtained when I chose to dare.

I chose to grasp upon your light,
A mere candle in a blackened night,
Seems to derive me from my fright,
Its morale gives me the will to fight.

Long ago, my perspective was impure,
Aware, yet distantly astray,
A guiding lantern was truly the cure,
For a former self, I must slay.

Even in a bitter winter,
The sun shall rise many times more,
Daily, it's not one to differ,
Even when we are feeling sore.

You are the marvel of my glory,
The optimism of my demise,
Origin of a worthwhile story,
As I feel you mesmerize.
