A Sea Captain's Lement
The skies were blue, the seas were green,
No ship but ours could be have been seen,
We had set to sea three days in the past,
Twenty-nine we had to last,
As we sailed the deepest ocean blue,
We saw a ship with a blackish hue,
Nor did I see such a vessel proud,
Nor did our cannons roar so loud,
As when I met the Anna May,
But I lost my crew that very day.
