Only Fools Believe in Forever
I was rummaging through the sofa,
And I found something old,
I held it close to my heart,
It brought pain; the memories cold.
I quickly scanned the bracelet,
Engraved was the date we met and your name,
Then I thought about you,
What are you up to? Who have you become? Are you the same?
I washed away the inquisitions,
And replaced them with the agony you brought,
Love always and forever? Yet,
We cried, we argued, we fought.
We fought to the point where ‘forever’ was broken,
Just another word to be thrown out of mind,
So I cried my last tear and ran to the shore,
Threw that bracelet for some other fool to find.
