"Where classification is key, I want to erase the shred lines so I can be ME." - Stacey-Ann Chin

When I was young, in school I made this card
With colorful, crayons glitter and paint
My young innocent smile with no regard
My fragile heart blinding me with restraint

As I hurried home, pride warmed my young face
My hands tightly holding my precious work
I would tell myself then it was a waste
That I would never even see his smirk

The handmade tie, the words of affection
Turned to longing whispers you couldn’t hear,
My card here in your silent rejection
The construction paper soaking my tears

A reason to why I don’t like this day
No receiving hands, no reason to stay

This poem is just about father's day in my eyes when I was younger.
